There’s a special kind of joy in seeing a project come to life. Recently, we gathered at Joy’s Corner, Baldock Way, to celebrate the completion of a transformative initiative by It Takes a City (Cambridge)—four innovative SPACE micro-homes, now ready to welcome their first residents.

It Takes a City is a Cambridge-based partnership tackling homelessness through collaboration. By uniting local charities, businesses, and organizations, ITAC creates practical solutions to provide immediate and long-term support for those in need. Their latest project at Joy’s Corner reflects this mission, offering new beginnings for individuals who deserve a safe and secure place to call home.

A Cambridge Community Project Making a Difference

As Cambridge architects passionate about making a positive impact, we’re thrilled to have been part of this community-focused initiative. Designed with care and built by the New Meaning Foundation, these micro-homes combine clever modular construction with a landscaped setting to offer both functionality and comfort.

Our approach at Archangel Architects centers on collaboration, and this project is a perfect example of what can be achieved when a team comes together to solve complex challenges. Whether working on private residences, public buildings, or Cambridge community projects, our goal is to create spaces that make a difference.

Collaborative Architecture at its Best

This project demonstrates the importance of teamwork. Alongside Bidwells (project management), Stantec (water engineering and compliance), CB3 Consulting Ltd (costs and contracts), Carter Jonas (planning), and Munro Building Services Ltd (plumbing and electrics), we worked to deliver homes that will change lives.

Special thanks also go to St John’s Church, whose cakes and refreshments added a wonderful sense of hospitality during the day of celebration.

Community-Focused Architecture for Lasting Impact

Joy’s Corner is more than just a housing project; it’s a symbol of hope and resilience. By designing safe, secure spaces for people experiencing homelessness, we’re reminded of the power of community-focused architecture.

As architects in Cambridge, we’re proud to contribute to projects like this—ones that enrich lives and strengthen the fabric of our community. Joy’s Corner is a tangible reminder that, when we come together with shared purpose, we can achieve something truly extraordinary.

To everyone involved, congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Joy’s Corner will have on its residents and the wider community.
